Mr. Huie was presented with an international award for painting at the Spanish Bi-Annual exhibition in Havana, Cuba in In , he received the Jamaica Government award for the best painting in the annual National Exhibition of painting. He has also been the recipient of the Badge of Honour for his contribution to art (). Also in that year he participated in a group exhibition presented by the Caribbean Committee for cultural advancement in Canada.
