Paul Yonggi Cho was the founder of Yoido Full Gospel Church. With about , members, it is the largest Pentecostal Christian congregation in South Korea. Also, one of the largest Church auditoriums in the world.

As of the time of publishing this report, the cause of his death is unknown as no official statement has been released by family or church leadership. Cho is perceived to have a simple lifestyle and spends much of his resources on social welfare.

Today, Yonggi Cho is the pastor of the world&#;s largest church with , members &#; Yoido Full Gospel Central Church in Seoul, Korea. At the age of 19, Cho contracted tuberculosis. The doctor gave him 3 months to live. A high school girl visited him and shared the gospel with him. Cho accepted Christ and she gave him a Bible. He encountered the living Christ as he read the Bible. Instead of dying in 3 months, he was out of his deathbed in 6 months.
In , God told Cho to build a church building that would seat 10, people costing $5 million. How God supplied the finances was a tremendous testimony of faith. Cho once wrote a $50, check that was post-dated on 31st December. As the day approached, he could not even gather a small portion of the amount. If his check bounced, the newspapers would carry headlines saying that the pastor of the largest church in Korea wrote a hot check.

He founded () the Yoido Full Gospel Church (YFGC) in Seoul. He presided over the megachurch until
Cho was raised Buddhist. When he was 17, he became gravely ill from tuberculosis. He subsequently recovered, and, attributing his healing to the God of Christianity, he became a Christian. In he graduated from Seoul’s Full Gospel Theological Seminary (now Hansei University), which was operated by the Pentecostal Assemblies of God denomination, and opened a tent church on a hillside outside the city. At that time many Koreans were homeless and jobless as a consequence of the Korean War.
