Major General (Retired) Bantubonke (Bantu) Harrington Holomisa was born on 25 July at Mqanduli, Transkei, the son of the late Chief Bazindlovu Holomisa who had been a member of the Transkei Legislative Assembly. He attended primary school at Mqanduli and junior and senior secondary school at Jongilizwe College, Tsolo, a school for the sons of chiefs and headmen. Holomisa joined the Transkei Defence Force in and was commissioned in He was one of the first blacks to undertake the South African staff and management course at the Army College in Pretoria. Bantubonke Holomisa was born the son of Tembu Chief Bazindlovu Holomisa on 25 July in the Mqanduli district of Transkei. After attending the Upper Ngqungqu Primary School in Mqanduli, he proceeded to the Jongilizwe College for the Sons of Chiefs and Headmen in Tsolo, Transkei, where he matriculated in Apart from the usual matriculation subjects, he obtained an additional Diploma in Leadership, with the subjects of current events, conduct of public affairs, public administration, English, African law (then called Bantu law, using the university-prescribed textbook by Seymore on the subject), typing and office routine. Major General (Retired) Bantu Holomisa co-founded the United Democratic Movement in with Mr Roelf Meyer. Mr Holomisa serves as the UDM’s President. He was again elected as a Member of Parliament in the National and Provincial Elections and was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans in the Government of National Unity in the 7th Administration in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet.
