Isidore Verheyden Biography
Isidore Verheyden (24 January , in Antwerp – 1 November , in Elsene) was a Belgian painter of landscapes, portraits and still life.
He was the son of painter Jean-François Verheyden; his first teacher at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts of Brussels was Joseph Quinaux, and in he entered the studio of Jean-François Portaels for further study. He also studied under the landscape painter Théodore Baron; he in turn taught Anna Boch.
Verheyden was a founding member of the anti-academic Société Libre des Beaux-Arts in , and a member of Les XX from to

Isidore Verheyden was a Belgian artist predominantly known for landscapes, portraits and still life. He was a member of the Belgian Royal Academy. He trained under Joseph Quinaux, Jean-François Portaels and Théodore Baron. And also taught numerous students including Jean Laudy. His works are held in various public collections including the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium.

Isidore Verheyden () was a Belgian painter of landscapes, still lives and remarkable portraits. He received his first artistic training from his father Jean-François Verheyden, afterwards he became a student at the Academy of Brussels under the tutorship of Joseph Quinaux from until He finished his studies in the free atelier of Jean-François Portaels. Verheyden resided in Hoeilaart from until and then he moved permanently to Brussels. He painted most of his landscapes in a Realist manner, but evolved around , under the influence of the French Impressionists, towards a luminist Impressionism and also experimented for a short period with tachism. He foremost painted the rural area around Brussels and Antwerp. Verheyden was a co-founder of the artistic group "Les XX" from until He became both teacher and director at the Academy of Brussels from until He was a member of the Belgian Royal Academy.
