Some of my first short stories were crime fiction, and although in the last 20 years I have focused a lot more on writing children's and YA books, I've kept going with my crime writing. The first two novels are now stowed somewhere in the back of my filing cabinet!
But "Trust Me, I'm Dead", first draft written in , was shortlisted for the CWA Debut Dagger and then published by Verve Books in the UK. What a journey with that novel. I love the character, a grumpy woman (secretly modelled on a young Judi Dench), and couldn't let go of the story. Nine drafts later

Sherryl Clark has been writing crime fiction for many years; her first crime short stories were published in the Artemis Press anthologies, as well as 'The Age Summer Reading' and in high school texts. In she entered her novel, Trust Me, I'm Dead, in the CWA Debut Dagger and was shortlisted. This led to Verve Books UK publishing three books in her Judi Westerholme series. Trust Me, I'm Dead was longlisted for the CWA John Creasey New Blood Award and the NZ Ngaio Marsh Debut Novel l's crime fiction website is at  has also more than 70 published children's and YA books, including novels, chapter books, picture books and award-winning verse novels.
