João Leocádio da Silva, o Mestre João Silva, foi um compositor, cantor e produtor musical brasileiro. Foi um dos maiores parceiro de Luiz Gonzaga na produção de mais de cem músicas, entre elas sucessos tais como: "Danado de Bom", "Nem se Despediu de Mim", "Forró de Ouricuri", "Pagode Russo", "Arcoverde Meu" e "De Fiá Pavi". Sua participação foi de fundamental importância para que em , Luiz Gonzaga recebesse seu primeiro disco de ouro, com o LP "Danado de Bom".
Aos 7 anos de idade começou a tocar pandeiro. Aos 9 anos ganhou um concurso como cantor. Aos 10 anos apresentou-se no programa no programa Ademar Paivana Rádio Clube de Pernambuco tocando acordeom.
Um dos principais parceiros de Luiz Gonzaga a partir dos anos , aos 17 anos mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro com uma carta de recomendação de João Calmon. Apresentou-se no programa "Domingueira" apresentado por Arnaldo Amaral na Rádio Mayrink Veiga onde cantou "Crepúsculo Sertanejo", de sua autoria.

Joao Silva is a renowned war photographer/photojournalist who has made a name for himself, thanks to the impact of his work in conflict areas in Africa, Central Asia, Russia, the Balkans, and the Middle East. He is perhaps best known for being a member of the Bang-Bang Club, a group of photographers that covered South Africa from the time Nelson Mandela was released to the country&#;s first election in Originally from Lisbon, Portugal (as he was born there in August ), Silva lived in Portuguese Mozambique with his parents till around the age of nine when his family migrated to South Africa to get away from the war in the colony. On Friday 4 May I had the privilege to hear João Silva speak to a group of photojournalism students and faculty at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. João Silva is a Portuguese born war/conflict photographer living in South Africa. However, he shies away from the label war photographer although he has dedicated his life to it for the last 20 years since first beginning work for Alberton Record covering the political violence of Apartheid in South Africa.
