Full Circle: How SISTAR19 Found Each Other All Over Again
In the golden age of K-pop, known as the second generation, dozens of K-pop acts laid the foundation for the current roster we admire today. But like migratory birds, these artists have spread their wings and flown towards their next destination &#; many pursuing a solo path after their group disbanded or switching careers. Still, despite being away for a brief period, they’ll always find their way back home, and within the K-pop industry, these moments come once in a lifetime.
After an year hiatus, the beloved female K-pop subunit SISTAR19 – composed of vocal powerhouse Hyolyn and fierce rapper Bora – found their way back to each other. “Just the fact that we are able to work together [again] is very exciting,” Bora, one half of SISTAR19, tells Clash over Zoom. “We’re really looking forward to what [the two of us] can achieve.”

The group consists of members Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom. They have been the recipients of over 45 awards and the winners of over 74 more during their illustrious tenure.
The group performed on Music Bank the following day after it’s debut and pushed promotional materials through the Korean music show circuit over the span of a few months, all the while promoting their second single, “Shady Girl”.
They would receive unintended but ultimately positive press when during the middle of their “Let’s Start Sharing Performance” on August 28 Bora suddenly fell on stage and fractured her thumb. She would recover a few minutes later and the group was able to finish filming. The footage was broadcast shortly thereafter on G4’s Attack of The Show as well as RTL and went viral.
